Men are from Mars, women are from Venus...

I absolutely loved the session that I went to today about the differences between men and women! I now know why Brian drives me crazy (only sometimes :-) ). Obviously, we all know that men and women are different, but I learned today about the biological differences that determine our brain composition...so interesting!

Here are a few things to keep in mind when communicating with men:

1. Men cannot multi-task! They aren't wired to...so pick the times wisely that you want to talk about something important.

2. When in conflict women want to connect, but men want to leave. The best way to deal with this is to let the man leave and blow off some steam. You can address the situation when he's cooled off. It is one of the hardest things for women to do, but allowing him to leave instead of chasing the argument is much healthier for the relationship in the long run.

3. Women talk in questions, and men talk in statements...so they don't get it if we say: "So...you want to go to that movie?" if you want to go to the movie say: "I would love to go to that movie!" Because if they don't want to go they're just going to say..."Nope, don't want to go!" They tend to not get our little hints that we think are so obvious!

4. Men use report talk...meaning if you ask them something about their day they give you answers in a report-like fashion...here's an example:
"How was your day?"
"Good."
"What did you do?"
"Nothing."
"What are you going to do later?"
"I don't know."
Whereas, if you ask a woman about her day she could go on for hours...because we use rapport talk to build relationships!

Hope you got a little insight from this! Dr. Hart was fabulous, and I know I gained some useful insight!

P.S. Brittany discovered she communicates like a man! Haha!
